Apple Acquires Video Editing Software Maker Motion VFX
Leading technology company Apple has acquired renowned firm Motion VFX, which specializes in creating plugins and templates used in video editing.
The financial details of the deal, announced on Monday, have been kept confidential. Headquartered in Warsaw, Poland, Motion VFX has been developing high-quality visual effects for Apple’s Final Cut Pro for the past 15 years.
This move is understood to be part of Apple’s strategy to expand its services business.
Earlier this year in January, Apple launched a new subscription package called Creator Studio, which includes apps like Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pixelmator Pro.
Apple is likely to integrate Motion VFX’s technology into this same package.
This integration is expected to make Apple’s platform more attractive to video editors and enable it to compete directly with Adobe Premiere Pro.
Currently, services contribute over 26 percent to Apple’s total revenue.
