March 19, Kathmandu – Punarbas Municipality ‘B’ claimed the championship at the fourth edition of the inter-municipality SPA Kailali Pride League held at Fapla Ground in Dhangadhi.
On Thursday, Punarbas Municipality ‘B’ from Kanchanpur defeated Budhiganga Municipality of Bajura by 6 runs in the final to secure the title.
The champions, Punarbas ‘B’, received NPR 300,000 and a trophy, while the runners-up, Budhiganga Municipality, took home NPR 100,000.
Batting first, Punarbas set a target of 80 runs. Budhiganga struggled while chasing and was bowled out for 73 runs in 17.1 overs. Deepak Rokaya played a crucial innings scoring 24 runs, but the rest of the batting lineup was unable to deliver notable performances.
Sher Mall put on an outstanding bowling display to break Budhiganga’s batting lineup. Bowling 4 overs, he claimed 3 wickets for just 12 runs, including 2 maidens, earning the Player of the Match award in the final. Naren Bhatt and Sachin Bhatt took two wickets each, while Hemant Dhami and Ashok Dhami took one wicket apiece.
Punarbas’ batting did not flourish either, getting all out for 79 runs in the 19th over. Their captain Narayan Joshi and Abhishek Pal were dismissed for one run each. Hemant Dhami remained unbeaten with 19 runs, Naren Bhatt scored 15, and Ashok Dhami added 14 runs. The other batsmen, however, failed to make significant contributions.
For Budhiganga, Sourya Shrestha took the highest wickets with 3. Nagaraj Singh and Subodh Air took two wickets each, while Madan Shah and Deepak Rokaya took one wicket apiece.
Individual awards included Emerging Player, awarded with NPR 10,000 cash, going to Budhiganga player Madan Shah. The Best Bowler award with NPR 15,000 cash was given to Sunny Bik from Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City. The Best Batsman award with the same cash prize was presented to Captain Tek Rawat of Ghodaghodi Municipality.
The Best Player award of the tournament, with a prize of NPR 20,000, was presented to Sachin Bhatt from the champion team.
The prizes, including cash, trophies, and certificates, were distributed by chief guest Chatur Bahadur Chand, President of the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN), along with central members Dhirendra Saud, Virendra Chand, President of the Regional Cricket Association Vasudev Joshi, Secretary Laxman Datt Bhatt, and Treasurer Dinesh Singh.
The tournament was organized by the District Cricket Association Kailali and commenced on February 10. Teams from 12 local levels of Sudurpashchim Province participated in the competition.
