5 Chaitra, Pokhara — On the second day of the 26th edition of the Surya Nepal Western Open, the fifth event of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2025–26, Bhuvan Nagarkoti held the top position with a one-stroke lead.
Playing 3-under 66 today, Nagarkoti posted a total of 3-under 135, edging out Shukra Bahadur Rai by a single stroke. Rai finished the round at 2-under 67, placing him second overall with a total score of 2-under 136.
Jayram Shrestha scored 1-over 70 today and sits third with a total of 1-over 139. Sanjay Lama is in fourth place with a total score of 2-over 140.
After carding 1-over 70 for two consecutive days, co-leader from day one, Bhuba Bahadur Gurung, struggled today with a 5-over 74, dropping to fifth place with a total of 5-over 143.
Ramesh Adhikari scored 4-over 73 on the second day and stands sixth with a total of 6-over 144. Suresh Tamang and Bhuvan Kumar Rokka tied for seventh place with totals of 7-over 145.
Today, Suresh posted 2-over 71, while Bhuvan scored 4-over 73. Ravi Khadka is ninth with a total 8-over 146, having also shot 4-over 73 today. Nepal’s number one golfer, Niraj Tamang, is in tenth place with a total of 9-over 147, after posting 4-over 73 in today’s round.
Nagarkoti consolidated his lead by posting a front nine score of 2-under 32, followed by 1-under 34 on the back nine. He made birdies on holes 3, 4, 5, and 9, but incurred a double bogey on the 6th hole.
Rai managed a front nine of 1-over 35 with birdies on holes 10, 15, and 17. Jayram Shrestha recorded a birdie on hole 3 but bogeys on holes 2 and 4, completing his front nine at 1-over 35 and back nine at even-par 35.
In the amateur category, Rahul Bishwakarma maintained the lead by eight strokes, finishing today’s round at 3-over 72 for a total of 3-over 141, though he dropped to fifth overall.
Kishan Pariyar also completed his second day at 3-over 72, adding up to a total of 11-over 149. Only these two amateurs met the cut criteria.
With a cut set at 12-over 150, a total of 20 players—including 18 professionals and 2 amateurs—have qualified for the final day. Others making the cut include Toran Bikram Shahi, Rame Magar, Basant Raj Gurung, Pradeep Kumar Lama, Suman Pariyar, Shiv Kumar Majhi, Dinesh Prajapati, and Dipak Magar.
Organized by the Nepal Professional Golfers Association (NPGA), the tournament features 26 professional and 16 amateur golfers.
Sponsored by Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd., the total prize fund for this event has been increased to NPR 1,050,000. The champion will receive NPR 170,000 in cash, while second and third place finishers will take home NPR 125,000 and NPR 100,000 respectively. Other professional golfers finishing in the top 18 will also be awarded cash prizes.
