Donald Trump Expresses Desire to Resolve Iran War, Yet Many Crucial Questions Remain Unanswered

United States President Donald Trump reiterated his previous statements on the Iran war during an address to the nation from the White House on Wednesday evening.
In his 20-minute primetime speech, Trump claimed that the “main strategic objectives” of the US and Israel’s military operations against Iran were nearing completion.
It has been exactly one month since the Iran war began. He also estimated that the conflict might continue for another two to three weeks.
Earlier on the same day, Trump issued a warning similar to before, threatening to reduce Iran to the “Stone Age.”
His posts on ‘Truth Social’ earlier in the week also showed no shift in his messaging ahead of Wednesday’s speech.
Iran War Described as an ‘Investment for the Future’

However, Trump sought to reassure the American public about the benefits the US could gain from the Iran war.
This reassurance seems necessary, as various polls reveal the majority of Americans oppose the military action that began on February 28.
Trump labeled this conflict as an “investment” for the future, underplaying it compared to the long wars America fought in the last century.
Yet, the speech lacked clear answers on where this war is headed and how America intends to exit it. Many vital issues were left unaddressed, leaving numerous questions unanswered.
Firstly, Israel continues to carry out attacks inside Iran, while Iran has launched drones and missiles into Israeli territory.
The question arises: will the Israeli government under Benjamin Netanyahu accept a timetable of a few weeks, as suggested by Trump? So far, there is no indication on this matter.
What Became of the Previous Proposal?
Secondly, where is the 15-point peace plan that the White House recently urged Iran to accept? Trump did not address this issue in his speech.
Has Washington abandoned most of its demands regarding enriched uranium from Iran? This remains unclear.
One of the most critical concerns is when the Strait of Hormuz—a vital and busy waterway—will reopen. Iran has closed it since the onset of the war, disrupting global maritime traffic.
However, Trump gave no specific statements about the status of the Strait of Hormuz.

Sometimes he has asked partner nations to resolve the issue themselves, insisting, “Go there, take control, protect it, and use it.”
“The hard work is done, then it will be easier.”
Yet, without elaboration, he only suggested the Strait of Hormuz would reopen once the war ended. It remains unclear what relief might come amid rising oil prices.
Earlier Wednesday, Trump signaled a potential withdrawal from the NATO military alliance, criticizing some allied nations for moving slowly but stressing they must advance efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
However, he made no mention of this during his evening address.
Unclear Definitions and Contradictions
Another important unanswered question concerns the ground troops: What will the thousands of Marines and paratroopers deployed to the Middle East now do?
Even after Trump’s address, understanding who he considers the victor in this war remains difficult.
His statements have often been contradicted within a day or two, so what he says remains subject to change.
Trump remains a president seeking a way out of the war and continues to strive to find it.
