
Homlal and Nirmala Win Titles in First Mundum Trail Race

March 7 (24 Chaitra), Kathmandu – The inaugural Mundum Trail Race saw Home Lal Shrestha and Nirmala Rai claiming the championship titles.
Home Lal Shrestha from the Nepal Army took first place in the men’s 60 km ultra, while Nirmala Rai from Khotang won the women’s 60 km ultra category.
Shrestha completed the designated course in 6 hours 50 minutes and 46 seconds. Second-place finisher Arjun Kulung Rai completed the race in 6 hours 56 minutes 03 seconds, followed by Milan Rai in third with 7 hours 6 minutes 03 seconds.
In the women’s category, Nirmala finished the race in 8 hours 20 minutes 03 seconds. Asma Bik was second with 9 hours 21 minutes 32 seconds, and Ang Furba Sherpa took third place, finishing in 10 hours 56 minutes 12 seconds.
The event was organized by the Mundum Ultra Trail organizing committee and took place in Bhojpur.
The race began near the Arun River, the warmest area in Bhojpur, and concluded at Panchdhare Tawa Bhanjyang, located at a higher elevation within Bhojpur.
Winners in the 60 km category received prize money of 80,000 NPR for first place, 60,000 NPR for second, and 40,000 NPR for third.
In the 45 km category, Gopal Tamang of Nepal Army came first, followed by Ramesh Limbu of Panchthar in second, and Umesh Rai of Bhojpur in third.
For the women’s 45 km race, Pushpa Limbu from Panchthar won first place, State Laxmi Rawal from the Army came second, and Rusma Rai took third place.
Prize money for the 40 km race winners was 50,000 NPR for first place, 30,000 NPR for second, and 20,000 NPR for third.
