Karnali Province Cricketer Anuj Chanara Announces Departure Citing Injustice
Cricketer Anuj Chanara from Karnali Province has expressed dissatisfaction with the treatment he received from the team and announced his decision to leave the provincial squad. He complained about not getting sufficient playing opportunities over the past three years and stated that in 50-over matches he was usually allowed to bowl only 2–4 overs.
Chanara mentioned that when he questioned the captain and coach repeatedly, the explanation given was that it was a ‘spin-friendly track,’ and due to these reasons, he has decided not to play for Karnali Province anymore.
In a post on social media, Anuj Chanara highlighted the perceived injustice within the team. He said, “I have always contributed my best for Karnali Province. However, due to the treatment I have received from the team over the past three years, I am compelled to write this today.” He expressed frustration over the lack of adequate playing opportunities during this period.
Despite being in the playing XI, he noted that he was typically permitted to bowl only 2–4 overs in the 50-over format and, even after performing well, was denied the full quota of 10 overs. Chanara recalled that the captain told him, “I carry out whatever orders come from above,” in reference to his limited role in some matches. Taking all these factors into account, he has decided to stop playing for Karnali Province.
