
Two Arrested in Thamel with 28 Counterfeit 500-Note Bills
Police have arrested Ram Kumar Pakhrin and Shiv Ghising in Kathmandu’s Thamel area with 28 counterfeit 500-rupee banknotes. The arresting authority also confiscated a machine used to print fake notes, according to SSP Ramesh Thapa of the Kathmandu District Police Office.
The arrested individuals are 32-year-old Ram Kumar Pakhrin from Phulbari, Rautahat, and 24-year-old Shiv Ghising from Ghyanglekh Rural Municipality-5, Sindhuli. They were apprehended by a team deployed from the Sohakhutte Police Post.
Besides the 28 counterfeit 500-rupee notes, the authorities seized the printing machine used to produce the fake currency, SSP Ramesh Thapa confirmed.
Following the arrests, the Kathmandu District Court has granted a five-day investigation period, during which the police will continue their inquiries.
