Special envoy of US President Donald Trump, Steve Wittkoff, along with his son-in-law Jared Kushner, is scheduled to visit Pakistan on Saturday for further talks with Iran, the White House has announced.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, leading the Iranian delegation, has already arrived in Islamabad. However, a spokesperson from Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that there are no plans for direct talks and that Araghchi will only meet with senior Pakistani officials.
The Iranian side has claimed that messages regarding the matter will be conveyed through Pakistani mediators.
Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi met with Pakistani Field Marshal Asim Munir in Islamabad, according to Iranian media reports.
After his meetings in Pakistan, Araghchi announced plans to visit Oman and Russia. On social media, he said these visits aim to coordinate and consult bilateral relations and regional developments with partners.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump had indicated negotiations are ongoing with those currently in power in Iran.
According to him, the US side will decide on Iran’s proposals once made. Security has been tightened in Islamabad ahead of the US delegation’s arrival.
These preparations follow Pakistan’s request related to President Trump’s decision to extend the ceasefire indefinitely. The US hopes to receive a comprehensive proposal from Tehran.
Since the ceasefire, tensions between Washington and Tehran have increased over the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s nuclear capabilities and its support for various proxy groups have further distanced their relations.
