
Roshan Honored with Senior Sports Journalism Award, Nayak Receives Youth Journalism Prize
The Nepal Sports Journalists Forum recognized senior sports journalist Roshan Singh Raut and young journalist Nayak Paudel for their contributions. Ram Charitra Mehta, Member Secretary of the National Sports Council, awarded certificates to both journalists at the 21st general assembly of the forum. The event, held on 13th Baisakh in Kathmandu, honored Roshan with the ‘Senior Sports Journalism Award 2079’ and Nayak with the ‘Suman Bhomjan Memorial Youth Journalism Award 2079’.
Alongside the certificate, Roshan Singh Raut received a cash prize of NPR 35,000, while Nayak was presented with a laptop as a prize. Roshan has dedicated nearly three decades to sports journalism, contributing to various media outlets. He has covered major events such as the South Asian Games, the Asian Games, and FIFA World Cup qualifiers as a field reporter. Upon receiving the award, he remarked, “This recognition is very special to me because it is like receiving it from my own family.”
Young journalist Nayak Paudel has worked with The Rising Nepal and The Kathmandu Post. He has provided outstanding coverage of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers and the T20 Cricket World Cup. After accepting his award, he stated, “The inspiration from senior journalists has enabled me to deserve this award. I believe I will continue to receive such motivation in the future.” Ram Charitra Mehta, the chief guest of the ceremony, congratulated the awardees and wished success for the forum’s general assembly.
