Hark Sampang Leaves After Visiting Demolished Squatter Settlement in Thapathali

April 21, Kathmandu – Hark Sampang, chairman of the Labour Culture Party and a member of the House of Representatives, left immediately after arriving at the demolished squatter settlement in Thapathali. He reached the Bagmati riverbank in Thapathali holding a hand microphone. When journalists attempted to get his comments, he found himself surrounded. Due to the overwhelming media presence, he felt uncomfortable and decided not to respond to questions and promptly left.

On April 24 and 25, the government used bulldozers to demolish the homes in the squatter settlement of Thapathali. Currently, only ruins remain at the site. Hark Sampang has strongly criticized the government’s move, condemning the displacement of the squatters.
