Nepal is stepping into the ‘SelectUSA’ Investment Summit, taking a significant step to increase its global economic engagement with private sector involvement for the first time. This participation aims to establish Nepal as an emerging partner in investment, innovation, and trade. At the summit in Maryland, Nepali companies will engage with global investors, U.S. government officials, and economic developers to seek market access, partnerships, and sustainable investment opportunities.
This engagement indicates deepening collaboration in trade leadership and private sector partnerships between Nepal and the United States. In high-level interactions with officials from the U.S. Department of State and the Department of Commerce, officials emphasized the need to strengthen bilateral ties through trade and investment. At a diplomatic event, Deputy Secretary Bethany P. Morrison highlighted the growing momentum following recent high-level visits and reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to fostering a favorable business environment and private sector growth in Nepal.
Welcoming the Nepali delegation, Deputy Chief of Mission Kumar Raj Aran expressed full confidence in the capabilities of Nepali entrepreneurs. Discussions with U.S. officials, including Deputy Director John Sio, focused on enhancing business relations and facilitating easier market access. Kailash Vijayanand, President of AmCham Nepal, stated that leading the Nepali delegation will help elevate Nepali companies to compete globally. He also acknowledged the Nepalese government’s recent policy reforms in the ICT sector.
The delegation includes five ICT companies – Bizserve, Swiftcrefin, CodeAvatar, GreenTick, and EventMo – which presented their expansion plans, representing Nepal’s growing capacity for innovation and global competitiveness. This initiative, coordinated by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (AmCham Nepal) under Executive Director Amir Thapa’s leadership, demonstrates Nepal’s readiness to engage in global markets and establishes the private sector as a primary driver of bilateral economic growth.
