
Asif Sheikh and Dipendra Singh Airey Maintain Positions in ODI Batting Rankings
Two Nepalese batsmen, Asif Sheikh and Dipendra Singh Airey, are featured in the ICC’s latest top 100 ODI batting rankings. Dipendra Singh Airey holds the 28th position in the all-rounder rankings, while Sandeep Lamichhane ranks 42nd in the bowling category. The ICC’s updated ODI batting rankings now include two Nepalese batsmen, Asif Sheikh and Dipendra Singh Airey, within the top 100. Previously, Nepalese players had better standings in bowling and all-rounder rankings, but no batsman featured in the batting top 100. In the home-leg of the League 2 series, all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airey delivered an impressive performance, securing 28th place in the all-rounder rankings while also breaking into the top 100 in batting.
Asif posted a strong batting performance in the final match of the previous series. In the latest rankings updated on Wednesday, Asif Sheikh stands at 93rd and Dipendra Singh Airey at 99th place in batting. Asif improved his position by 13 spots, and Dipendra climbed two spots higher. The opener, Asif Sheikh, scored an impressive 94 runs against Oman on Tuesday last week during the series against UAE and Oman. Prior to this, he was dismissed cheaply for scores of 7 and 19 and was left out of the third match.
Dipendra scored 75 runs in the first game against the UAE and 60 runs in the match against Oman. In the second game against the UAE, he completed a century and then made 33 runs in the second game against Oman. His contribution in the all-rounder role is highly valued. Dipendra ranks 28th in the all-rounder standings, and Sandeep Lamichhane holds the 42nd position in bowling rankings.
