Yadav Urges All Opponents of Special General Convention to Unite Under Thapa’s Leadership
Mahendra Yadav, a central member of the Nepali Congress, has urged all those opposing the special general convention to move forward under the leadership of party chairman Gagan Thapa. Yadav emphasized that there is no need for multiple gatherings within the party and stressed the importance of uniting the entire Madhesh region to update active membership.
Chairman Thapa has nominated 19 individuals close to former chairperson Deuba and leader Koirala as central members. Speaking at a two-day provincial-level event held in Bardibas, Mahottari, Yadav stated, ‘Within the party, it is no longer productive to engage in various meetings. Those of us who did not participate in the special general convention should now accept Gagan Thapa as chairman and proceed unitedly.’
Representing the former establishment group, Yadav noted that then-General Secretary Thapa had introduced the schedule for the convention to be held before the election, but a counter-schedule was introduced after the election. Yadav, who opposed the special general convention, had received an election ticket from Chairman Thapa. While one faction of the Congress is refusing to update active membership, the former establishment leader appealed, ‘Let us all come together now to update active membership. Let the entire Madhesh province unite wholeheartedly in this campaign.’
