May 21, Kathmandu – Former Finance Minister Rameshwar Khanal has advised Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle to implement the report prepared by the high-level Economic Reform Task Force.

During a discussion with former finance ministers on Thursday regarding the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84 budget, Khanal, who led the task force that prepared the report, suggested putting the recommendations into practice. He had initiated work based on this report while serving as finance minister in the interim government.

Khanal also recommended refraining from imposing a value-added tax on electricity. Additionally, he advised against budget allocations for retail and small-scale projects that are not properly prepared. Former Finance Minister Shankar Koirala also stressed the importance of implementing this report during the discussion.
