Department of Foreign Employment Issues Warning Against Unauthorized Inspections

May 22, Kathmandu – The Department of Foreign Employment has announced that it is conducting regular inspections of manpower companies and related institutions to control fraud in the foreign employment sector. In an official notice, the department stated that staff assigned for inspections will be sent only with official letters from the department and will conduct visits after presenting proper identification.

The department has urged the public to remain vigilant against individuals carrying out unauthorized inspections or those who intimidate or pressure others over the phone using the department’s name. It has also requested that any such suspicious activities be reported immediately to the department.

Furthermore, the department has publicly shared the contact numbers of the Director General, Deputy Director General, and directors of the Inspection and G2G Facilitation Branch, urging prompt communication if any dubious activities are observed. Recently, the department has intensified oversight and regulation of manpower operators.

In line with government directives, the department has emphasized its efforts to control fraud in foreign employment and to ensure swift justice for affected workers. The current government has consistently adopted a zero-tolerance approach toward illegal activities, clearly stating that such actions will not be condoned.

Since the commencement of regular and surprise inspections by the department and the Ministry of Youth, Labour and Employment, some manpower operators have expressed concern, alleging unnecessary hardship and harassment during inspections. In response to these complaints, the department reiterated that inspections are being conducted routinely and urged the public to immediately notify the department if any unauthorized activities are encountered.
