Rastriya Swatantra Party MP Yagnmani Demands Public Disclosure of Judges’ Assets
May 24, Kathmandu – Yagnmani Nyaupane, Member of Parliament from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (Raswapa), has called for transparency by urging the public disclosure of judges’ assets. On Monday, during a unanimous meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Law, Justice and Human Rights under the House of Representatives, Nyaupane made this appeal.
“The existing provision that keeps judges’ assets confidential prevents transparency,” MP Nyaupane clarified. “There is an urgent need to establish a system that publishes judges’ assets on a website. Furthermore, an investigation into the assets of judges should be conducted.”
Highlighting the gaps in the current legal framework, he noted that although local courts exist, appropriate laws addressing their function are lacking. “There is a provision for local courts, but no suitable legislation to effectively manage them. By establishing local courts and expanding the jurisdiction of district courts, the pressure on the Supreme Court can be alleviated,” he emphasized.
