Israel Launches Renewed Airstrikes in Lebanon; Hezbollah Responds with Counterattacks

The Israeli military has initiated extensive airstrikes across Lebanon once again. This offensive follows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s declaration to intensify the conflict against Hezbollah. The Israeli forces targeted areas including the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon and other strategic locations.

The Iran-backed Lebanese militant group Hezbollah responded with retaliatory measures. Hezbollah reported launching 22 drones and rockets targeting Israeli troops, tanks, and barracks. Although a 45-day ceasefire agreement had been reached between the two sides some time ago, hostilities have continued unabated.

Prime Minister Netanyahu confirmed that Israel is currently engaged in active warfare with Hezbollah. He has directed the military to carry out decisive operations aimed at neutralizing Hezbollah forces. Israel claims that over 600 militants have been killed thus far. Some Israeli officials have expressed intentions to extend the conflict into Lebanon’s capital, Beirut.

This confrontation originated on February 28, following a coordinated attack on Iran by the United States and Israel. After the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Hezbollah launched missile strikes against Israel in retaliation. Subsequently, Israel executed extensive military operations and troop deployments in Lebanon. Israeli airstrikes have so far resulted in over 3,000 casualties in Lebanon. The ongoing bombardments have forced more than one million Lebanese residents to flee their homes.
