No Consensus Reached at Rastriya Swatantra Party Siraha, Election Process Begins Today
May 8, Siraha – With no consensus reached on leadership at the historic first district convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (Raswapa) in Siraha, a new leadership will now be selected through election.
According to the election schedule, the voting process is set to begin today at 10 a.m., informed Dr. Indrajit Mahto, Acting Chief Election Coordinator of the Election Commission.
Despite the open session of the convention starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, consensus on leadership selection could not be established, prompting the advancement of the election process, he added.
Dr. Mahto noted that despite repeated efforts by leaders including the members of parliament and proportional representatives from all four constituencies of Siraha, such as Purushottam Yadav, consensus was not achieved, leading to the decision to proceed with the elections.
According to Dr. Mahto, the majority of the election procedures have been completed; only the publication of the voter list remains. With preparations finalized, the process will officially begin at 10 a.m. today.
For the position of district chairperson, the incumbent Hariprasad Mainali, youth leader Subhash Kumar Yadav, and Ram Saugartha Yadav have registered their candidacies.
Similarly, the race for vice-chairperson features candidates Engineer Arvind Kumar Ram, Jivach Yadav, Nima Kumari Yadav, and Geeta Shahi. The secretary position will see competition among Ramesh Kumar Yadav, Rajendra Mandal, Paritosh Kumar Yadav, and Amit Raj Raibi.
Although efforts to reach consensus continued after registration, the presence of multiple contenders for key positions has ultimately led to leadership being decided through elections.
