Date Announced for the Second Sagarmatha Dialogue

Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has announced that the second Sagarmatha Dialogue will be held in May 2027, and preliminary preparations have already begun. During the House of Representatives session on Thursday, responding to members’ questions, Minister Khanal clarified that initial arrangements for the Sagarmatha Dialogue are underway. “A budget proposal for conducting the Sagarmatha Dialogue has been submitted, and preparations have also started,” Minister Khanal informed the assembly.

The first Sagarmatha Dialogue was completed in May 1968 (2025 BS). This dialogue is generally conducted once every two years. The 1968 Sagarmatha Dialogue concluded with a 25-point declaration focusing on issues such as mountain conservation, promotion of green technology, concessions for developing countries, financial assistance, and climate justice.
