Budhanilkantha and Grandee Stars to Clash in 10th National Women’s Basketball Championship Final

The Nepal Basketball Association (NEBA) has announced that the final match of the 10th National Women’s Open Basketball Championship will take place on Friday at 3 PM between the teams representing Budhanilkantha Municipality and Grandee Stars. The two teams earned their spots in the final after winning their respective semi-final games. Grandee Stars defeated ISA Nepal, while Budhanilkantha overcame Sunsari Basketball Association to advance to the final.

This national tournament, held after a decade, also serves as the primary selection platform for players vying to participate in the SABA Women’s Basketball Championship. The competition is ongoing at the covered hall in Kirtipur. In the first semi-final, Grandee Stars convincingly defeated ISA Nepal by a wide margin of 66-32. Maintaining a lead throughout each quarter, Grandee Stars posted quarter scores of 15-7, 28-10, 12-8, and 11-7. In this match, Grandee Stars’ Smriti Paiju scored a game-high 14 points and was named Player of the Match.

In the second semi-final, Budhanilkantha comfortably triumphed over Sunsari Basketball Association with a 72-39 victory. Leading in three quarters, Budhanilkantha recorded quarter scores of 19-11, 21-4, 13-16, and 19-8. Their player, Urja Rana Magar, contributed a tournament-high 21 points and was also named Player of the Match. The championship winner will be awarded a cash prize of NPR 50,000, while the runner-up will receive NPR 30,000. Additionally, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) will be awarded NPR 10,000, the Most Promising Team will receive NPR 10,000, and the Most Promising Player from outside the Kathmandu Valley will be given NPR 5,000, as per the association’s announcement.
