Agriculture Minister Chaudhary Attends Climate and Sustainable Development Conferences in Thailand

Agriculture, Forest and Environment Minister Geeta Chaudhary departed today for Bangkok, Thailand, to participate in two international conferences focused on climate and sustainable development. Minister Chaudhary will highlight the impacts of climate change on Nepal during the 7th World Conference on the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development, scheduled for Ashad 15 and 16 (June 29-30).

Following that, from Ashad 17 to 19 (July 1-3), she will also attend the 9th Ministerial Session of the Environment and Development Committee, where she will present Nepal’s environmental commitments. The Nepali delegation, led by Minister Chaudhary, left for Thailand pursuant to the Cabinet decision on Jestha 29 (June 12).

At the conference in Bangkok, the main objective is to discuss strengthening coordination and cooperation between the Paris Agreement on climate change mitigation and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030). Minister Chaudhary is expected to draw the international community’s attention to the unique challenges faced by Himalayan countries like Nepal due to climate change, as well as highlight Nepal’s efforts towards green development.

Joining Minister Chaudhary on this visit is Dr. Rajendra KC, Technical Undersecretary of the Ministry.
