US Warns of Intensifying Attacks on Iran
June 25, Kathmandu – The US military has reported carrying out attacks on Iran for the second consecutive night, targeting approximately 90 sites across the country. The US Central Command shared videos of these strikes on X. According to the Central Command, the objective of these attacks is to further diminish Iran’s capability to target commercial ships and innocent sailors in the Strait of Hormuz. The targeted sites included air defense systems, coastal surveillance equipment, missile and drone storage facilities. Additionally, naval capabilities and military logistic structures within Iran’s coastal regions were also targeted. The Central Command indicated that these new attacks were conducted as a follow-up to the successful offensive strikes carried out the previous night.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed its involvement, reporting retaliatory strikes against US military bases located in Kuwait and Bahrain during the night. The IRGC characterized this response as a punishment for what it called a US-initiated ceasefire violation. The organization also warned that if the US continues its attacks, Iran would target other American installations in the region as well.
Just hours before these attacks, US President Donald Trump had threatened to inflict significant damage on Iran. Trump stated that the US strikes were in response to Iran’s bombing of ships in the Strait of Hormuz and warned of even harsher responses to any future repetitions of such actions.
According to Iranian media, explosions were heard in the country’s southern coastal regions. Iranian-controlled islands in the Persian Gulf were targeted. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, reacted on X, stating, “America has yet to learn that it must pay the price for making threats and breaking promises. If you attack, you will face counterattacks. Do not engage in pointless agitation, or you will face even deeper crises. The Strait of Hormuz will only remain open under Iranian control and will not open based on American threats.”
The US Central Command stated that Iran had targeted three commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, prompting the US to respond with attacks. Conversely, Iran reported retaliatory attacks on US military sites in Bahrain and Kuwait early Wednesday morning. Responding to President Trump’s comments, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said, “We do not respond to insults with insults. We will respond to actions fearlessly and with full courage.”
