Bethanchok and Lalitpur Win Mayor’s Cup Volleyball Championship

Ashok Shrestha from Lalitpur was declared the best male player, and Rikjana Bhote from Bethanchok was named the best female player in the competition. In the Bagmati provincial-level Mayor’s Cup volleyball tournament, Lalitpur Metropolitan City secured the men’s title, while Bethanchok Rural Municipality claimed the women’s championship. The winning teams received cash prizes of NPR 200,000, while the runners-up were awarded NPR 100,000. The event concluded on 27 Ashad in Kathmandu.

In the men’s volleyball competition, Lalitpur Metropolitan defeated Mahankal Rural Municipality with a straight sets victory of 3–0. The set scores were 25–20, 25–15, and 25–20 in favor of Lalitpur. In the women’s category, Bethanchok Rural Municipality triumphed over Kathmandu Metropolitan by 3–1 sets. Bethanchok won the first set decisively at 25–16, lost the second 21–25, then secured the third and fourth sets 25–23 and 25–8 respectively to claim the title.

The best player awards went to Ashok Shrestha of Lalitpur for the men’s division and Rikjana Bhote of Bethanchok for the women’s division. Each received a cash prize of NPR 10,000. Other outstanding players included Sunita Basnet, Purnakala KC, Sarika Karki, and Smriti Rai among women, and Baldev Singh Dhami, Subash Kunwar, Chiran Khadka, Anil Singh, and Rajan Darlami Magar among men from Mahankal.

The winning and runner-up team players were honored with trophies, medals, certificates, and cash prizes by Lalitpur Metropolitan City’s Chief Chiribabu Maharjan, Deputy Mayor Manjali Shakya Bajracharya, and other distinguished guests. The tournament featured sixteen teams from across Bagmati Province in both men’s and women’s categories and began on 23 Ashad.
