June 12, Kathmandu – Due to heavy floods and landslides, national highways at over a dozen locations across the country remain blocked. The Nepal Police shared this information citing data collected up until 6 p.m.
According to police, the Kantipath road segment in Bagmati Rural Municipality-3, specifically at Pandur and Takurche located at Bhattedanda, is closed. In the same highway, the Bhalu Khola area is another location where landslides have obstructed the road.
On the Mid-Hill Highway, the road is partially open in Bhojpur Municipality-5, Bokhim, while traffic on the Mechi Highway at Ilam Municipality-9, Rajduwali, has been completely shut down.
Transportation is fully halted in Yangwarak Rural Municipality-1, 2, and 3 of Panchthar on the Mid-Hill Highway. Traffic is also blocked in the Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katunjebesi section of the BP Highway. The Kantipath segment covering Hetauda-Thingnan-Bagmati-Lalitpur is also closed, according to the police.
On the Hetauda-Kathmandu route, vehicle movement has been suspended along the Hetauda-Bhaise-Bhimfedi-Deurali-Sisneri-Kathmandu corridor. The Kantipath section at Bhimfedi-8, Bharyangdanda, is also closed. The Fakhel-Kulekhani segment has been shut down as well. The Kodari section of the Arniko Highway is open for one-way traffic.
A police source reported that landslides have blocked traffic on the internal road between Pokhara and Tangting in Gandaki Province. The New Bridge-Ghandruk stretch remains partially operational for one-way traffic. In Lumbini Province, traffic is closed in the Arghakhanchi Saljhundi-Dhorpatan road section at Panini-2, Dhungrekhola.
Landslides have obstructed transportation in Kaaule of Gulmi Chhatrakot-3 along the Madan Bhandari Highway. The road is also blocked in Rakse, under the Kaligandaki Corridor, according to police.
Traffic is suspended in Humla’s Kharpunath-5, Bisauni, and Shubhakalika Rural Municipality in Kalikot, within the Karnali Corridor.
