Issue of Police Baton Charge on Students Raised in Indian Parliament, Kharge Strongly Criticizes Government

On Monday, Mallikarjun Kharge, President of the Indian National Congress, raised the issue of a police baton charge on CJP protestors in the Parliament. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, he said, ‘Thousands of children gathered at Jantar Mantar in the paper leak case were subjected to baton charge. The Modi government is trying to suppress the voices of young people.’

Speaking to the media outside the Parliament building, Kharge criticized the government for its inability to address unemployment and conduct examinations, stating that it is unfit to remain in power. The CJP thanked Kharge for raising youth issues in Parliament.

He added, ‘It is wrong to beat and harm students and youth who come to Delhi to raise their voices. We have repeatedly drawn the government’s attention to this issue, but it has made no difference. On one hand, there is unemployment, and on the other, the government has been unable to conduct exams.’

During the CJP’s ‘Parliament March,’ police resorted to baton charges and used tear gas against protestors.
