New Online System Launched to Register Foreign Employment Fraud Complaints at Foreign Employment Department

The Minister of Youth, Labour, and Employment, Ramji Yadav, has inaugurated a new online system for filing complaints and cases related to foreign employment fraud at the Foreign Employment Department. Victims can now submit complaints online from their homes with the necessary evidence, eliminating the need for physical visits to the department. Minister Yadav also announced plans to launch a new online platform soon aimed at ending the exploitation of domestic workers.

On July 21, Kathmandu — The Foreign Employment Department has introduced a complaint and case management system. Minister Ramji Yadav officially inaugurated the platform, which enables the registration of complaints and cases related to foreign employment fraud entirely online. Pitambar Ghimire, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labour, informed that complaints and cases can now be submitted digitally. He further explained that victims do not need to be physically present to lodge complaints online.

Previously, those experiencing fraud had to appear in person at the department to file complaints. However, according to spokesperson Ghimire, it is now possible to submit complaints online with proper documentation. While monitoring the department’s operations and inaugurating the system, Minister Yadav emphasized that given the current era of globalization, it is not feasible to immediately halt foreign employment. Therefore, the government is focused on making the process safer and more dignified.

Minister Yadav also shared that the government is advancing initiatives to establish labour agreements with European countries that ensure safe working conditions and higher returns for Nepali workers, thereby eliminating exploitation. The Ministry of Labour is preparing to launch a new online platform soon to address complaints related to domestic workers’ problems and exploitation. He added that the labour department intends to start an online platform soon to enable workers employed within the country to file complaints about unfair wages and labour exploitation. With the implementation of this system, the necessity for workers to physically visit labour offices for minor tasks will be eliminated, a move believed to significantly ease the complaint process.
