Alongside Shah, artists including Sonakshi Sinha, Preity Zinta, Sonu Sood, and Diljit Dosanjh have also expressed their backing for the students. Kathmandu, 6th Shrawan: The actions taken by police against Karnataka Janata Party supporters and protesting students during Monday’s parliament march have drawn sharp criticism from many Bollywood celebrities. Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has shown solidarity with the students, encouraging them to remain steadfast and highlighting the considerable empathy people have for their cause. Sharing a video on his Instagram, Shah stated, ‘Though I completed two courses in acting, the most I have learned is from these children I tried to teach my craft to. I extend my full sympathy to them, I wish them well with every breath I take, and I honor them every Teacher’s Day.’ He further expressed, ‘My heart is heavy at the moment. Witnessing the atrocities committed on these children fills me with anger and pain. Such suppression of students was carried out by thugs who remind me of ICE agents in America, carrying sticks and wearing masks. Think about your children and remember that every action has consequences.’ Shah continued, ‘To all these children, I want to say – do not lose courage. Many people sympathize with you. I have always been hopeful about this nation’s youth, and that hope is now shining through. I also want to tell the government of this country that everything will be remembered.’ Previously, numerous celebrities including Sonakshi Sinha, Preity Zinta, Sonu Sood, Diljit Dosanjh, Riteish Deshmukh, actress Bhumi Pednekar, and Jannat Zubair, among others, have raised their voices in support of the students.
