Ruben Trumpelmann Rejoins Lumbini Lions Ahead of Nepal Premier League Title Defense

Lumbini Lions have signed Namibia’s pace bowler Ruben Trumpelmann as their first foreign player with the aim of defending their Nepal Premier League (NPL) title. Trumpelmann, who was named Player of the Tournament in the previous edition, took 15 wickets in 10 matches. Lumbini Lions chairman Ishwar Jissi announced that re-signing Trumpelmann marks the official start of their title defense campaign. 8 Shrawan, Kathmandu.

Lumbini Lions secured Namibia’s Ruben Trumpelmann for their defense of the NPL championship. The franchise confirmed on Friday that Trumpelmann would be their first foreign signing for the third edition of the tournament. The 28-year-old bowler had a standout role when Lumbini Lions won the title in the second season, earning Player of the Tournament honors. He claimed 15 wickets at an economy rate of 6.72 and an average of 14.93, and scored 41 runs unbeaten across 7 innings, including 4 not outs.

Trumpelmann played all 10 matches for Lumbini Lions last year. In the final against Sudurpaschim Royals, he was awarded Player of the Final after taking 3 wickets for just 3 runs in 2.1 overs. “We are pleased to bring Ruben Trumpelmann back to Lumbini Lions and officially launch our campaign to defend the title. The contract renewal was merely a formality,” said club chairman Ishwar Jissi.

Trumpelmann has participated in the UAE’s ILT20 league and Canada’s Global T20 League. Currently, he is representing Namibia in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 matches held in the Netherlands. Over his career, he has played 53 One Day Internationals, taking 77 wickets, and 54 T20 Internationals, picking up 54 wickets. The champion Lumbini Lions have retained marquee captain Rohit Paudel, alongside Sandeep Jora, Sher Malla, Dilip Nath, Tilakaraj Bhandari, Dinesh Adhikari, and Abhises Gautam. In the auction, they additionally signed Asif Sheikh, Kishor Mahto, Akash Tripathi, Durgesh Gupta, Araniko Yadav, and Ajay Chauhan.
