King Kazu: The Oldest Professional Footballer in the World Scores at Age 59

Kazuyoshi Miura, the world’s oldest professional footballer, has scored a goal at the age of 59 while playing in Japan’s third division.
A former Japanese international, Miura scored for his club Fukushima United on Saturday, marking his first goal in four years.
In the Emperor’s Cup match, Fukushima United defeated Iwaki Furukawa by a commanding 7-0 margin. Miura scored in the 52nd minute, bringing his team to a 5-0 lead.
This is Miura’s first competitive goal since November 2022, when he scored for Suzuka PG (now Atletico Suzuka) against FC Osaka.
Known in Japan as “King Kazu,” Miura is one of the country’s most beloved footballers. He was a key player when the J-League launched in 1993.
Miura began his professional career in 1986 with the Brazilian club Santos.
He also played professionally in Italy, Croatia, and Australia.

He plays as a forward for his team.
Miura is contracted with Fukushima United through June 2027, after an agreement extended from his previous club, Yokohama FC, where he started in 2005. This extension means he is set to play his 42nd season.
Although contracted with Yokohama FC since 2005, Miura has not played a minute for the club since 2020.
He scored 55 goals in 89 appearances for Japan’s national team.
