Russian Defense Ministry Claims Destroying 822 Ukrainian Drones

The Russian Defense Ministry has claimed that its air defense forces successfully intercepted and destroyed 822 Ukrainian drones overnight. According to the ministry, these drones were neutralized over Russian territory as well as the Azov and Black Seas between the night of August 15 and the morning of August 16.

The ministry reported that Russia’s air defense systems operated effectively across various regions, including Moscow, Kursk, Crimea, and Belgorod, to thwart these drone incursions. According to the statement, the Russian air defense units conducted these operations from 8 p.m. on August 15 to 8 a.m. on August 16, Moscow time. The ministry confirmed, “We successfully intercepted and destroyed 822 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles across the regions of Belgorod, Bryansk, Vladimir, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Tambov, and Tula, as well as the Moscow region, Krasnodar region, the Republic of Crimea, and over the Azov and Black Seas.”
