US Conducts Another Strike on Iran Targeting Military Bases on Larak Island

The US military has launched attacks on two Iranian military bases on Larak Island, marking the first known US military action against Iran since July. According to Central Command spokesperson Tim Hawkins, the strike was carried out after observing that the IRGC was preparing to deploy maritime mines and conduct rocket attacks in the Strait of Hormuz.

On 15 September, Kathmandu – A US official confirmed that American forces targeted two military installations on Iran’s Larak Island. This operation represents the first acknowledged US military action against Iran since July. Commander Tim Hawkins of the US Central Command stated the strike occurred in response to intelligence indicating that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was preparing to lay maritime mines and launch rockets in the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz.

The IRGC has reported casualties and injuries resulting from the US attack and issued warnings about retaliatory measures and punishment against the United States. Iranian state media further claimed that the IRGC conducted a strike on a US military base in Jordan; however, the US Central Command has not commented on these assertions.

Following the IRGC claims, Jordanian forces reported intercepting eight missiles entering Jordanian airspace using their air defense systems. A statement released by the Jordan Armed Forces on Monday morning confirmed the interception of the eight missiles. Earlier, US President Donald Trump had announced an end to military operations against Iran in late July. This recent attack marks the first known American strike on Iran since that announcement. The escalating incident signals renewed tensions between the US and Iran, raising concerns about increased security challenges in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most vital maritime routes.
