Five Dead in Cargo Plane Crash at Miami International Airport, USA

A cargo plane operated by Amazon Air crashed on the runway at Miami International Airport. The accident resulted in the deaths of at least five people, with an additional five injured. The incident occurred around 2 PM local time on Sunday as the plane was landing and had crossed the runway threshold. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash.

The Boeing 767-300 aircraft struck several vehicles located off the runway before catching fire. Following initial reports, around 200 firefighters promptly arrived at the scene. Officials stated that three of the injured sustained serious injuries. Most of those injured were inside the vehicles hit by the aircraft.

Amazon released a statement saying it is working closely with local authorities at the crash site and is trying to determine the cause of the accident. The company expressed deep shock over the fatalities resulting from the incident. All flights from the airport were suspended immediately after the crash.

Due to the Labor Day holiday in the United States, airports are typically very busy with many travelers. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is leading the investigation and has indicated that the official cause will be determined only after thorough examination. Firefighters have extinguished the fire; however, there are reports of fuel leakage from the aircraft. Flight monitoring website Flightradar24 showed that the plane was traveling at a speed of 207 kilometers per hour when it went off the runway. Their blog post also mentioned that the weather in Miami during the crash included light thunderstorms and strong winds.
