Pakistan Deducted 11 Points in WTC for Slow Over Rate Against England

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed a penalty on Pakistan for a slow over rate during the third Test against England, deducting 11 points from their World Test Championship (WTC) tally and fining players 50 percent of their match fees. The ICC reported that Pakistan fell 11 overs behind the scheduled time in the Edgbaston Test in Birmingham. Pakistan received a double sanction from the ICC for maintaining a slow over rate in the third and final Test against England. According to the ICC, Pakistan lagged by 11 overs at the Edgbaston Test in Birmingham. Consequently, the ICC fined the players 50 percent of their match fees and deducted 11 points from their World Test Championship (WTC) rating.

Match referee Ranjan Madugalle from the Emirates ICC Elite Panel issued the sanctions based on reports from the on-field umpires Paul Reiffel and Chris Gaffaney, third umpire Allahuddeen Palekar, and fourth umpire Russell Warren. In accordance with ICC regulations, teams incur a penalty of 5 percent of the players’ match fees for each over not completed within the allotted time, with a maximum fine of 50 percent. Likewise, under the World Test Championship rules, one point is deducted for each over short of the target.

Following the deduction of 11 points, Pakistan has dropped further down the WTC leaderboard, currently positioned ninth with an average of 4.63 points. Pakistan’s next WTC series is scheduled for November against Sri Lanka, with two Tests taking place in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
