Captain Glenn Maxwell’s brilliant all-round display propelled the Belfast Wolves into the final of the inaugural European T20 Premier League. Belfast defeated the Amsterdam Flames by 7 wickets, chasing the 134-run target set by Amsterdam comfortably with 9 balls to spare, losing just 3 wickets in the process. Devon Conway contributed 35 runs and Lorcan Tucker an unbeaten 34. Maxwell remained not out with 21 runs from 10 balls.
Earlier, Maxwell’s excellent bowling helped bowl out Amsterdam for 133 runs in 20 overs. He took 4 wickets for 18 runs from his 4 overs, marking the best bowling figures of his T20 career. Matthew Humphreys claimed 3 wickets and Chris Jordan took 1. For Amsterdam, Steve Smith top-scored with 45 runs, followed by Yuvraj Samrala’s 27 runs. In the final, Belfast Wolves will face Edinburgh Castle Rockers for the championship title.
