Four Nepali Swimmers Exit in Heat Stage at 20th Asian Games

At the 20th Asian Games swimming competition held at Tokyo Aquatics Centre, Nepalese swimmers Jiden Shrestha, Arya Maharjan, Duvala Lama, and Irvin Shrestha were eliminated in the heat rounds. In the 100-meter breaststroke event, Jiden placed 30th out of 36 competitors. Arya finished 27th among 31 participants in the women’s 50-meter breaststroke. Duvala ranked 19th among 21 swimmers in the women’s 200-meter freestyle, while Irvin came in 38th out of 47 competitors in the men’s 50-meter freestyle, completing the distance in 24.56 seconds.

Kathmandu, October 5 – At the 20th Asian Games, four Nepali swimmers were unable to progress beyond the heats in the swimming events. The competition took place Monday morning at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre in Japan. Jiden Shrestha competed in the 100-meter breaststroke, finishing 30th among 36 participants with a time of 1 minute 8.01 seconds. Arya Maharjan participated in the women’s 50-meter breaststroke heat, finishing 27th among 31 swimmers with a time of 33.40 seconds.

Similarly, Duvala Lama ranked 19th out of 21 swimmers in the women’s 200-meter freestyle, completing the event in 2 minutes 15.40 seconds. In the men’s 50-meter freestyle, Irvin Shrestha placed 38th of 47 competitors, swimming the distance in 24.56 seconds. Previously, on Sunday, Irvin finished 36th in the 100-meter freestyle and did not advance beyond the heats, recording a time of 54.03 seconds. In the same event, Avib Pradhan completed the distance in 52.74 seconds, securing 28th place. Nepal still has swimmers competing in several other events.
