Nepal Secures Consolation Win in Men’s Kabaddi at Asian Games

In the 20th Asian Games currently underway in Japan, Nepal’s men’s kabaddi team defeated Malaysia by a significant margin of 73–52 in the final group stage match. Nepal established a strong lead of 37–21 in the first half and ultimately secured a comprehensive 21-point victory. Despite suffering three consecutive losses earlier and being eliminated from the semifinals, this win serves as a consolation for Nepal at the conclusion of the group stage. Meanwhile, the women’s team is scheduled to play their final group match against Sri Lanka today.

Kathmandu, 8 Ashoj – On Thursday, Nepal convincingly beat Malaysia 73–52 in the last group stage match. Nepal held a 37–21 lead at halftime. Although competition intensified in the second half, Nepal maintained their advantage with a 36–31 score and finished with a 21-point overall margin. Having lost three matches in a row earlier and missing out on the semifinals, this victory offers Nepal a positive note at the end of the group phase.

The women’s kabaddi team, having already qualified for the semifinals, will face Sri Lanka today in their final group match.
