El Niño Brings Flowers to Chile’s Atacama Desert After Rainfall

Following rainfall caused by El Niño, flowers have bloomed in the Atacama Desert. This recent heavy rain brought by El Niño has transformed one of the driest places on Earth, the Atacama Desert, filling it with beautiful blossoms.

Located in northern Chile, this desert stretches between the Andes mountain range and the Pacific Ocean. Seeds and tubers have remained dormant for years, but with sufficient rainfall, they become active, leading to a vibrant display of blooming flowers.
