Zelensky Urges Stronger Sanctions on Russia Amid Ongoing Attacks

President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Russian attacks continue across Kyiv and other regions, urging the international community to impose stronger sanctions and pressure on Russia. He highlighted that Russian drone strikes have caused civilian deaths, dozens of injuries, and damage to two childcare centers, two schools, and other civilian infrastructure in Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that Russian attacks persist in Kyiv and surrounding areas and called for increased international sanctions and pressure on Russia. He described the attacks as acts of “terrorism,” citing civilian casualties, dozens injured, and significant damage to civilian infrastructure. On Sunday, he posted on X that Russian jet-engine drones targeted two childcare centers, two schools, residential buildings, an auto repair shop, a warehouse, and communication infrastructure in Kyiv.

According to Zelensky, since the previous day, Russia launched 277 attacking drones, 155 of which were jet-engine powered. He reported damage to a building used as the residence of the Saudi Arabian ambassador in Kyiv, a sports school in Dnipro, and a regional orphanage in Sumy. Responding to Russia’s claims of efforts to de-escalate tension, Zelensky stated that if such steps were genuine, Kyiv would not have faced such a massive drone attack. He also accused Russia of trying to delay international reactions to the war through diplomatic signals.
