
Bhutan Men’s Cricket Team Loses All Four Practice Matches During Pokhara Tour
October 2, Kathmandu – The Bhutan men’s cricket team, currently on a tour of Pokhara, has been defeated in all four of their practice matches. In their fourth and final practice match held Friday at the Pokhara Stadium cricket ground, Bhutan lost by 104 runs against the CAN-11 team. This defeat confirms that Bhutan has lost all of its practice games on this tour.
Chasing a target of 177 runs set by CAN-11, Bhutan was bowled out for 72 runs in 17.3 overs. Bowler Bipin Sharma was outstanding, taking 5 wickets for just 7 runs off 4 overs. Akash Chand claimed 2 wickets, while Rasid Khan, Prakash Jaishi, and captain Bipin Khatri took one wicket each.
Batting for Bhutan, Sonam Chopel, Tashi Phuntsho, and Anand Dorji each scored 15 runs. Namgay Thinley contributed 13 runs, Ranjung Mikyo Dorji scored 1, and Chiring Tashi made 6 runs before getting out. Sonam Yeshe remained not out on 2 runs. Tenjin Rabge, Namgang Choyjay, Gakul Kumar Ghale, and Karma Dorji failed to add any runs.
Earlier, CAN-11, having won the toss and opted to bat first, scored 176 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Opener Tritaraj Das reached a half-century, scoring 51 runs off 31 balls. Other notable contributions included Mayan Yadav with 26 runs, Sibrin Shrestha with 19, Rasid Khan with 24, and captain Bipin Khatri with 38, while Vansh Kshetri scored 4 and Yuvraj Khatri remained unbeaten on 1 run.
Deepak Kumar Dumre was dismissed without scoring. For Bhutan, Anand took 3 wickets, Gakul 2, and Sonam Yeshe and Namgay Thinley each took one wicket.
Looking ahead, Bhutan is scheduled to travel to Malaysia to participate in the ICC T20 World Cup Asia Sub-Regional Qualifier ‘A’ starting on October 5.
