What Support Is Available for Elderly Flood Victims Who Lost Medicines and Prescriptions?

Thousands of people have lost their homes due to flooding caused by the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers. Among them, a significant number are elderly individuals. Many displaced elderly people are either patients or require regular medication. Floodwaters have washed away many of their medicines and doctors’ prescriptions. Some do not even remember the names of the medicines they were taking, while others have complained about being unable to obtain medicines when trying to purchase them.

On this issue, Niranjan Rajbanshi contacted Ramraja Bhandari, the health chief of Vidur Municipality in Nuwakot district—one of the districts affected by the flood—to inquire about the assistance being provided, for the program ‘BBC Hatmalo’.
