
Nepal Drops One Spot in FIFA World Rankings
October 8, Kathmandu – The Nepalese national football team has slipped one position in the latest FIFA World Rankings. According to the update released by FIFA on Thursday, Nepal now ranks 178th. The national team last played an international match on March 31, suffering a defeat against Laos. This match took place six days after ANFA was suspended by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Since then, Nepalese football has seen no international activity or progress. Nepal was suspended by FIFA on June 24.
In South Asia, India remains the highest-ranked team, holding the 138th position. During the recent international break, India played home friendly matches against Panama, Brazil, and Uruguay. Afghanistan ranks 168th, Maldives 173rd, Bangladesh 182nd, Sri Lanka 184th, Bhutan 192nd, and Pakistan 197th. Among Asian teams, Japan leads at 17th place, followed by Iran at 23rd and Australia at 26th position.
