Landslide in Northern Philippines Claims Four Lives, Six Still Missing

A landslide in Baguio City, Northern Philippines, has resulted in four deaths, and six individuals remain missing. The landslide struck on Sunday evening, engulfing 13 people, of whom seven were rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment. According to police, 62 residents from 14 affected families have been relocated to safer areas, and rescue operations continue. (July 11, Manila)

Local media reported that the landslide occurred around 7 PM on Sunday in the Riverside area of Barangay Guisad Surong in Baguio. Police stated that as of Monday morning, seven people were pulled from the debris. The deceased include a 17-year-old female teenager, two children aged nine, and a 56-year-old man. Three rescued individuals are currently receiving hospital treatment.

Despite intermittent rainfall, rescue teams are persistently searching for and retrieving missing persons. Meanwhile, 62 people from the 14 families at risk of landslides have been moved to safer locations, and seven more individuals are being sheltered in the local village hall.
