
Run Competition Held by Nepal Trade Union Congress National Youth Committee on International Youth Day
On the occasion of International Youth Day 2026, Ganesh Singh secured first place in the open category, while Jenisha Rai won first place in the women’s category in the run competition. Kathmandu, 28th Shrawan. The race, organized by the National Youth Committee of the Nepal Trade Union Congress, started from Maiti Ghar and concluded at Tinkune. In the open category, Rupesh Karki came second and Sanjiv Nepali finished third. In the women’s category, Purnima Acharya placed second, and Sharda Rai took third place.
Cash prizes along with medals and certificates were awarded to the first, second, and third place winners, amounting to NPR 10,000, 5,000, and 2,500 respectively. The organizers also reported that a consolation prize of NPR 2,000 was granted to an eight-year-old participant runner. The race saw participation from more than 300 youths and received technical support from the National Sports Council, as stated by Dipendra Sunar, Chairperson of the Nepal Trade Union Congress National Youth Committee.
According to Sunar, the competition aimed to enhance youth health, discipline, leadership skills, and positive social engagement.
