Seven Women Die in Stampede at Ashokdham Temple in Bihar

Seven women lost their lives in a stampede at the Ashokdham Temple in Lakhisarai, Bihar, India. District officer Shailendra Kumar reported that the incident was triggered by rumors of a snapped electric wire. Six injured individuals have been admitted to the district hospital for treatment. 1 Bhadra, Kathmandu.

Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Shivam Kumar of Lakhisarai informed that the incident occurred on Monday morning at the Ashokdham Temple. According to him, seven people have died and six others were injured in the event. The injured have been admitted to the district hospital.

District officer Shailendra Kumar visited the hospital to see the injured and provided information about the incident to the media. He confirmed that all seven deceased are women. “There was a long queue from right in front of Ashokdham Halt Railway Station to the temple. At the same time, two trains arrived at the station. During this, rumors spread that an electric pole had fallen,” he said, “but in reality, only an electric wire had snapped.” Subsequently, pressure mounted on the line of women on the left side, causing them to fall on one another.
