Busquets will work alongside coach Giuliano Beletto in the Barça Athletic squad, which competes in Spain’s fourth division. He will also complete the necessary coaching licenses. Recently, the reserve team was relegated two tiers down from Segunda División to Segunda Federación due to poor performance. The primary objectives for Beletto and Busquets are to promote the team back to the third tier and nurture talented young players for the first team.
Busquets joined Barcelona’s academy as a youth player in 2005. Before breaking into the senior squad, he featured in 25 matches for the reserve team. Promoted under Pep Guardiola’s management, Busquets went on to make 722 appearances for Barcelona. Only Lionel Messi and Xavi Hernandez have played more games for the club. His illustrious career includes winning nine La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies.
With 143 appearances for Spain, Busquets was a key member of the squads that won the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championship. After leaving Barcelona, he was signed by Inter Miami in 2023, where he rejoined former Barcelona teammates and close friends Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, and Luis Suárez. During his time at Inter Miami, he played 116 matches and helped secure the Leagues Cup in 2023 and the MLS Cup in 2025 before retiring from professional football. Now, Busquets is set to begin his coaching journey with Barcelona’s youth ranks.
