Pakistan Supreme Court Orders Hospitalization of Imran Khan at Shifa International
The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered the former Prime Minister Imran Khan to be transferred to Shifa International Hospital for treatment. The court directed that Khan remain hospitalized until the next hearing scheduled for September 16 and that he be allowed weekly visits with his family.
Julfikar Bukhari, an advisor to Imran Khan, welcomed the court’s decision and expressed concern about Khan’s health condition. He stated, “The order to transfer Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital is appropriate. Had this decision been made earlier, his eyesight and health would not have deteriorated so severely.”
A three-member bench heard the petition for Khan’s hospitalization. The bench was chaired by Justice Shahid Wahid, with Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim as members. The Supreme Court also issued a contempt notice to the superintendent of Adiala Jail.
The court instructed that all medical records related to Imran Khan’s health be submitted. Additionally, it ordered that family members be allowed weekly visits. The court further directed that full details of all pending cases against Khan be provided.
