September 3, Kathmandu – The new electric SUV from Dongfeng, named the Nami Vigo E-2, has been officially launched in the Nepalese market.
MAW Motors, the official distributor of the Dongfeng brand in Nepal, organized an event today at The Plaza in Pulchowk, Lalitpur to unveil the Vigo E-2.
Company Managing Director Vishnukumar Agrawal informed that the Vigo E-2 has been positioned above compact cars and is marketed as a ‘full SUV’ ideal for family use.
The vehicle’s price is set at NPR 3,599,000, with bookings open from today until the Nada Auto Show starting September 24, according to the company.
At the launch, MD Agrawal shared that despite recent government revisions to duty structures in the new budget, the company has determined a ‘special price’ that directly benefits customers.
“There was discussion within our group about whether to keep the difference from duty changes as company profit or pass it on to customers, but true to our pricing policy, we prioritize the customer and have brought this vehicle to market at a special price,” said Agrawal.
Agrawal further highlighted that the Nami Vigo E-2 has already proven its capability in Nepal’s challenging geography. The vehicle has reached remote regions such as Manang, Mustang, Solukhumbu, and Shuklaphanta. He cited an example of a customer who drove over 80,000 kilometers within two years, demonstrating its durability and reliability.
According to Agrawal, the Nepalese automobile market is undergoing significant change. While hatchbacks were popular a few years ago, consumer interest is now shifting towards SUVs.
“Just as the market transitioned from hatchbacks to SUVs in petrol vehicles, a similar transformation is now evident in electric vehicles. We are confident that the Nami Vigo E-2 will play a leading role in Nepal’s electric vehicle revolution,” he remarked.

Beginning as a small workshop in Biratnagar in 1964, MAW has grown into Nepal’s largest automobile group.
Currently, Dongfeng Nami ranks as the second largest Chinese electric vehicle brand in Nepal, boasting over 2,000 satisfied customers nationwide.
While global battery shortages and high demand pose challenges, electric vehicle adoption in Nepal has reached 85 percent. Agrawal noted that bookings for the Nami Vigo have already exceeded 45 days of waiting and are expected to rise further by the festival of Dashain, urging interested buyers to book promptly.
The launch event was attended by Dongfeng Motors’ regional manager Miss Naomi and various dignitaries, influencers, and members of the media.
Key Features of the Nami Vigo E-2
The company has designed the Nami Vigo using a ‘Rubik’s Cube’ concept featuring geometric styling throughout the vehicle. This includes triangular crystal tower taillights, geometric rearview mirrors, semi-hidden door handles, and uniquely styled wheels.
It is equipped with a 95 kW electric motor, a 52.3 kWh battery, and a claimed maximum range of 430 kilometers.

The powertrain was developed considering urban roads, uphill terrains, and long-distance travel. The electric motor provides instant torque to facilitate smooth acceleration.
A notable feature is its fast charging capability, supporting 3C fast charging technology. Using a compatible DC fast charger, the battery can charge from 30% to 80% in approximately 18 minutes.
The vehicle has already been successfully deployed in remote and challenging areas including Manang, Mustang, Shuklaphanta, Kalinchowk, and Solukhumbu. Its 185-190 mm ground clearance allows comfortable travel on rough roads, and fast charging supports long-distance users.

The interior is crafted to provide a premium experience, featuring a 12.8-inch central touchscreen and digital instrument cluster. The cabin includes comfortable seats, ambient lighting that syncs with music, wireless charging, and multimedia functionality.
The front seats offer electric adjustment and ventilation, ensuring comfort for both the driver and passengers on long journeys.

The exterior design distinctly separates it from typical hatchbacks or crossovers. It features modern headlights, semi-recessed door handles on the sides, and specially designed taillights at the rear – all based on the ‘Rubik’s Cube’ design theme.
Safety features include ABS, EBD, traction control, electronic stability control, hill start assist, rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera.
