Refugee Team to Participate in the 20th Asian Games

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has decided to include a refugee team, comprising two taekwondo athletes, in the 20th Asian Games scheduled to be held in Aichi Nagoya, Japan. The Games will open on September 19 and conclude on October 4. The team’s official designation will be the “OCA Refugee Team.” Throughout the competition, the team will be referred to as the “Asian Refugee Team (ART).” Should the team win a gold medal, the OCA flag will be raised and its anthem played.

The OCA has ensured the participation of a two-member refugee team, exclusively consisting of taekwondo athletes. Official uniforms will be provided by 361 Degrees. When the team’s flag is displayed at the taekwondo competition venue, it will be positioned immediately after Oman’s flag. During the opening ceremony’s parade of athletes, the OCA Refugee Team will enter the arena on stage following the Yemen Olympic Committee and preceding the host nation Japan’s National Olympic Committee.

The 20th Asian Games will take place from September 19 to October 4 in Aichi Nagoya, Japan.
