
Nepal Secures Victorious Start in ACC Premier Cup
Nepal, led by Sandeep Lamichhane’s five-wicket haul, claimed a 7-wicket victory over Bahrain to kick off their ACC Premier Cup campaign on a high note. At the YSD UKM Oval in Malaysia, Bahrain was bowled out for 87 runs in 36.2 overs, with Sandeep delivering an impressive spell of 10 overs, conceding just 14 runs while taking 5 wickets. Chasing a target of 88 runs, Nepal achieved the total losing only 3 wickets, with Arjun Kumal unbeaten on 36 and Rohit Paudel not out on 19.
On 15th Bhadra in Kathmandu, captain Sandeep Lamichhane and the bowlers showcased outstanding performances to help Nepal start successfully in the ACC Premier Cup. In the Monday afternoon match held at Malaysia’s YSD UKM Oval, Nepal secured a convincing 7-wicket win over Bahrain. Nepal chased down Bahrain’s 88-run target while losing 3 wickets. Arjun Kumal scored 36 runs, and Rohit Paudel remained unbeaten on 19 to ensure the victory.
Bahrain’s Imran Javed took 2 wickets, while Nepal lost one wicket through a run-out. After losing the toss, Bahrain batted first and were dismissed for 87 runs in 36.2 overs. Captain Sandeep Lamichhane spearheaded the bowling attack, taking 5 wickets for just 14 runs in his 10 overs. Lalit Rajbanshi picked up 3 wickets, and Karan KC claimed 2 wickets.
Bahrain’s top scorer was Fiyaz Ahmad with 15 runs, followed by Muhammad Wasim with 13, and Ali Daoud who made 10 runs. Sandeep began his bowling in the 14th over, taking a wicket with his first ball and capturing another on his fourth ball. He continued his impressive spell with a wicket in his fifth over as well as one apiece in the seventh and eighth overs, completing his tally of 5 wickets.
Nepal will face Malaysia in their second match on Thursday.
