Flood in Bhote Koshi and Trishuli Rivers: Handling of Unidentified Bodies

Unidentified bodies are not being given funerals but managed systematically

The flooding of the Bhote Koshi and lower Trishuli rivers has swept away hundreds of people. As of Monday morning, 272 bodies have been recovered in Chitwan. According to local officials and police, only 10 of these bodies have been identified and handed over to relatives for funeral rites. The remaining bodies, according to the Chief District Officer of Chitwan, have been “managed by burial beneath the ground.”
